I'm looking for some guidelines for deciding whether a web application, running rules within a servlet, should run 1 rules engine (with each fact having a session-specific id) versus 1 engine per session. What factors/variables need to be considered in making this decision? I've read mailing list threads suggesting both options, and have also seen examples implementing either option. Would anyone anyone like to take a stab at summarizing what needs to be considered?
