Note that I didn't say Jess's rule language will be replaced by an XML
version, but that Jess would interoperate with any such
standard. Basically this means that translators would exist, and, if
appropriate, hooks would be added to integrate the translators in some
way.

Markup languages are misused whenever they ae used in a situation
where they are presented as-is to a human. On the other hand, they're
an excellent way of defining shared concepts. It would certainly be
nice to be able to take your existing ILOG rulebase (for example) and
use it with Jess (for example) unchanged, through translation via an
intermediate XML representation. That's the kind of thing this
initiative will enable.
