Java seems to very picky with the order
of the command line arguments:

working:
java -Xmx256m jess.Main

non-working:
java jess.Main -Xmx256m

Maybe worth an addition to the manual ?
Thanks for the help.

Norman Gyhra

Use -Xmx256m .

ms == initial heap size
mx == maximum heap size

The maximum has to be >= the initial size. These options do indeed do
something -- Jess might still be running out of memory, but it should
be running out at ~256M instead of at ~70M.
