Hi Folks, I noted today that a new version of Mark Watson's open-source book "Practical Artificial Intelligence Programming in Java" is available at http://www.markwatson.com/opencontent/opencontent.htm . There are a number of interesting projects for the beginner in AI programing. I'm mentioning it here because Chapter 3 is about expert systems, and in particular, about using Jess. He goes through a few short examples in more detail than anything in the Jess manual. There are a few inaccuracies (for example, the claim that a rule named "startup" is special in some way (it's not), and an incorrect rendering of my surname) but in general it's a good read for someone just starting out with Jess.
