The first Public Review version of the JSR-94 1.0 Specification is now available at
http://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/review/jsr094/ JSR is a specification for a new "javax.rules" package which defines an API for interfacing Java code to rule engines. The API is decidedly biased towards "enterprise applications" -- i.e., it's intended to be used from the J2EE and Enterprise Java Beans. JSR94 does *not* include a rule language -- just a Java API for loading rules, adding Java objects to working memory, and running the engine. The reference implementation for JSR94 is a driver for Jess. Unfortunately, the document describing how to use the RI was omitted from this review distribution -- it will be in later versions. I've put the information at http://herzberg.ca.sandia.gov/jess/ri_overview.shtml Have fun. If you look at JSR94, feel free to comment here. I think we could have an interesting discussion. --------------------------------------------------------- Ernest Friedman-Hill Distributed Systems Research Phone: (925) 294-2154 Sandia National Labs FAX: (925) 294-2234 Org. 8920, MS 9012 [EMAIL PROTECTED] PO Box 969 http://herzberg.ca.sandia.gov Livermore, CA 94550 -------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send the words 'unsubscribe jess-users [EMAIL PROTECTED]' in the BODY of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED], NOT to the list (use your own address!)
