Grant,

Jess documentation and the book Jess in Action provide loads of sample
code. The final few chapters of the book take you on a step by step tour
of how to go about building applications. As a new Jess programmer myself,
I thought these are not just recommended reading, but essential reading.
About what you have written about your program - it is too general, all
Jess (or rule based programs for that matter) programs will work like
that, so depends on what you want to do specifically.

Hope that helps,
Somwrita.
