There are no immediate plans for a new edition. The dead-tree version
is indeed
technically out of print (although Manning can actually print more, if
they want to,
at any time) there's also the PDF edition available at www.manning.com/friedman-hill
.
And it's cheaper than the paper version!

I have returned to using Jess after an absence of a few years. I can
catch up sufficiently well from release notes and code examples, but I
did notice the first book is out of print and is surely somewhat out
of date.
So, this too was my first question. I noticed it has been asked by
several others but I haven't (with a cursory glance at the archives)
seen a response. My students will want a reference text, however, so
I too would like to know the answer to this. My apologies is this
question has been asked so many times that no one bothers addressing
it anymore, but I only had so much time to browse the archives.

Hi,
I would like to know if a new version of the "Jess in Action" book
is going
to be out soon, including the new features of Jess 7.
