I think they are not the same, since I find (at least on cvs head) the jakarta-slide/proposals/jcrri/webapps directory in the empty. My assumption the demo uses the jcrri, but that the ui and webapp is not open source? I think I'll ask anyhow, since I had the same question. I'm not sure it fits in jakarta anywhere, my interest would be for jsp's, but perhaps php folks and others would collaborate/have interest.
