The jetspeed.xml is in the tomcat/webapps directory, not in the jetspeed subdirectory, is this correct? I just let maven deploy everything.
That is a problem. Do you have the build.properties in your home directory flagged to use tomcat 5? Deployment looks to be defaulting to tomcat 4 behavior.

i get headaches with unit tests, too. i usually skip the tests with maven -Dmaven.test.skip allClean allBuild i never got j2 working without skipping the tests. maybe this is because j2 is still on alpha.
