In Jetspeed 1.3a2, the layout is done with templates. The majority of the
templates in Jetspeed are now Velocity templates.
The other choice for templates is JSP.
Its basic MVC not to use ECS.
See Jon Steven's article in JDJ July 2001 (vol.6,issue.7) for a good intro
to Velocity and its advantages over JSP.

Cocoon plays no role in Jetspeed.
