The psml.xsd is currently both invalid and out of date, I'll upload a patch for it to the dev list soon though. 2. You never know what might happen to make a psml file get corrupted - mine happened due to an invalid character in the xml resulting from portlet.setParameter() being called with a bunch of esoteric ASCII characters. Or what about some sort of io problem while saving the document. IMHO these things shouldn't be recoverable but they also shouldn't crash the web server.
