You should not se the "log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly" anf the three log lines starting with "610". below that, log4j show you how it is initialized, and I assume that logging works as configured after that. Somehow the service JetspeedLogFactoryService is not initialized early enough. I have an idea how to fix this in that class, since the JetspeedLoggingService, which causes the warning in your console, uses the JetspeedLogFactoryService. (On my setup, with Tomcat 4.1.18 (haven't take the time to upgrade...)
