Sorry, no small portlet apps.  Perhaps you could look at the various
administrative portlets in Jetspeed as examples.

In regards to the jportal.jar, this file is not required to create a portal
using Jetspeed.  You can easily create a portal by customizing Jetspeed
using Jetspeed's release war.

now currently i am working in portal. i am using the Apache products to my
development. i am using the following softwares, jetspeed, lucene, tomcat,
