layout init parm need to add to layout-portlets webapp's portlet.xml

When I tried the VelocityThreeColumns layout, I added the following
init-parm to layout-portlets's portlet.xml in VelocityThreeColumns
portlet to make it work.

    <init-param>
      <name>layoutType</name>
      <value>ThreeColumns</value>
    </init-param>

The portlet.xml file location is
/layout-portlets/src/webapp/WEB-INF/portlet.xml.

Am I right ?
