I've created a simple Guestbook portlet, see http://www.orbomusic.com.
All logic is separate from the JS1-portlet (Which is just and Action class derived from GenericMVCAction).
I've created a Guestbook DAO Factory, and som far just implemented a simple file-based DAO. A JDBC DAO will be next, when I get the time...
If you guys want, I can move the code to org.apache.jetspeed classes. What packages would be appropriate to put this, preferably so it can be used in both JS1 and JS2?
