Michael,

I understand your desire to make that broader statement. There are
bootstrapping issues at the boundary between Ant and Maven. The Maven
team has offered to potentially make it possible to avoid running Maven
by including the ability to expand maven archetypes in the Maven Ant
task library. However, Maven will still be there under hood. If you are
expecting Maven to be eradicated absolutely from the J2 build, that will
have to come later with a binary install.
