The authentication required is user id and password. Is that what you mean
by "basic authentication"? If it is, I'm very interested in your patch/code!

I hit a problem like this. What authentication is required? I have a hack
that can be applied to 1.3a1 for 'Basic' authentication. I will checkout
the current code and see if this is still necessary - otherwise offer a
patch.
