I used to work for Oracle and I also think that it's a
wonderful piece of work too.
I agree about all your points (1,2 and 3) but I'm not
sure that JetSpeed is ready for "prime time" compare
to Oracle Portal. We are using Oracle Portal right now
and it's slow and hard to manipulate... Good Doc. is
hard to find (like JetSpeed :)) but support is fairly
good and we have new (production) version out at a
good paste.
I hope that JetSpeed will go "production" very soon so
It's can be use by my clients. I think that the Oracle
pricing over charge but it's the only product, for my
point of view, that is acceptable to show to your
clients.
I asked for the date of (a package)release of version
1.3a2 on this mail group and I got bizarre respond...
Almost like "It will be ready...went we want". I know
that product is free and I don't have the time to
participate at the developement but I sure can make
the publicity to my clients to use that product. I
know that I can use the CVS but I don't think my
clients will do.
For my personnal use, I will continue to work with
JetSpeed but for my clients use, I will have to
continue to work with Oracle Portal. I don't want to
make bad publicity but would to say that until
JetSpeed have a more stable version I will have to
speak about it with reserve.
