We are using org.apache.jetspeed.om.profile.PSMLDocument throughout Jetspeed. Until your question I was not aware of org.jetspeed.util.customizization.PSMLDocument class.
What is your requirement and how are you using inDocument()? We are moving away from using the name of a entry/portlet and to a PEID (PSML/Portlet Entry ID). By using a PEID, we can have many copies of the same portlet on one PSML document. This was not possible when the the portlet names was used.
