I read those entries and they note that it works, except the customization (I'm assuming that means that it runs but that any end user selection customizations are not recognized).

If you look at the mailing list archives, I believe there are some problems with jetspeed and Tomcat4.0.2 and 4.0.3. It maybe you have hit upon this.
