Patrick, forgot to mention you also should comment out the line above that says: contentfeeds.feed.name=apache
again, caveat emptor. I am not an expert, just trying to help. regrds, Brian -----Original Message----- From: Dealy, Brian [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, July 25, 2002 10:30 AM To: 'Jetspeed Users List' Subject: RE: Config File changes being replaced with previous revision Patrick, In my default 4.1b version, I believe these files are part of the apache feed that comes in from http_jakarta.apache.org_jetspeed_channels_jetspeed and http_jakarta.apache.org_jetspeed_channels_turbine (got those from the cache file directory) if you want to remove those from your jetspeed instance, I would suggest that you probably need to remove the apache feed which is defined in JetspeedResources.properties in my instance as: contentfeeds.feed.apache.description=ASF OCS Feed ( http://www.apache.org/ ) contentfeeds.feed.apache.url=http://jakarta.apache.org/jetspeed/channels/apa che.ocs removal is necessary since the feed is going out to jakarta.apache.org as opposed to getting the defs locally. after commenting these lines out, I think your will have success. (not sure about purging the cache, but I suggest a restart of tomcat) regards Brian -----Original Message----- From: Patrick Krug [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, July 25, 2002 10:05 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Config File changes being replaced with previous revision I am still pulling my hair out on this one. I have checked the documentation, archives, etc and can not find a solution. I have tried bringing down the HTTP Server (Apache) and Appserver (Websphere), made the changes, started the HTTP Server and Appserver back up, logged into the portal and the portlets that I want to remove are as follows out of the feed_apache.xreg file. Cheers <portlet-entry name="http://jakarta.apache.org/jetspeed/channels/jetspeed.rss" hidden="false" type="ref" parent="RSS" application="false"> <meta-info>
Jetspeed

Jetspeed is a multi-device portal system with simple syndication capabilities
</meta-info>
</portlet-entry> <portlet-entry name="http://jakarta.apache.org/jetspeed/channels/turbine.rss" hidden="false" type="ref" parent="RSS" application="false"> <meta-info>
Turbine

Turbine is a java web application development framework
</meta-info>
</portlet-entry> ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Patrick Krug" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: "Jetspeed Users List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Config File changes being replaced with previous revision Date: Thu, 25 Jul 2002 14:39:03 +0000 I have made changes to some of the configuration files but I have noticied on some occasions the changes get replaced with the previous version. I recently have made changes to the feed_apache.xreg file. I have made the changes using my text editor. I then will log in to the portal check for the existense of a portlet, it exists so I reopened the file and have found my changes removed. What am I doing wrong? I am running Jetspeed version 1.4b1 on a Windows 2000 machine.
