Same problem here! I've seen this come up several times and have yet to find a good answer. There is even less information on running it behind a SOCKS proxy. I have tried the exact steps as Philipp without luck (and clearing the cache directory, which is always empty). The proxy how-to is worthless in my case (http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/proxy-howto.html). I have also had problems using web portlets that are hosted inside the firewall. I have two exact copies of the application running on the same version of Tomcat (4.1). On one machine the web portlets quite working for apparently no reason, and on the other they are still working. I am nervous about doing anything to the other machine now out of fear that it may stop working on it too (this is our intranet server). I would love it if someone could clearly state how to get this working. I've tried this list and the main Tomcat list without luck. Can anyone share their wisdom on this? Regards, Aaron
