Hell, I would settle for just a DTD or schema plus optional validation of XML files when Jetspeed starts. At least then you might get some meaningful information about where the misplaced > is in your file, instead of some Java exception at the Turbine/Castor level. Not sure why this doesn't already exist....maybe I'm just more anal about validation than most people.
