I hesitate to show my own ignorance, but I've been struggling with this error for a while and I wanted to contribute a "solution" incase anyone else does what I did.
If you're trying to connect to an external datasource and you (quietly) can't get any data, and your log is showing "no DataSourceFactory configured" as in: ---------------- Horrible Exception: java.lang.Error: Error in BasePeer.initTableSchema(TURBINE_USER): There was no DataSourceFactory configured for the connection default ---------------- ...the problem may be that it can't find the driver. Just like David said in an earlier email. My advice; look over your CLASSPATH, very, *very* closely. I had one character missing. <shakes head> Also, regarding my earlier email about the foreign key type mismatch in TURBINE_USER_GROUP (giving the error ORA-01722 "invalid number"). This *may* be to do with a recent release of Torque; release notes for a 3.0 (http://jakarta.apache.org/turbine/torque/changes) indicate the introduction of foreign keys, and it *may* be that other changes are sill needed in Torque. I never followed this one all the way through to the end, instead I stayed with HSQL for users and am using a different pool for the volume database transactions/reports. So this advice is thoroughly dispensable. Again, the purpose of this mail is only to help future list-searchers.
