Very encouraging. I was contemplating using the simya.net LDAP taglibs
from within JSP pages, but it would be far preferable to have something
more integrated, especially when our application is going to be heavily
dependent on directory information (contact management for an emergency
response system)

I have many other areas of this app that are going to occupy me over
the next few weeks, but we're also needing to have working prototypes
by early Jan, so if this code is even partially ready enough to do
lookups and inserts, you can count on me to test it; if I learn enough
about it, I may even get up to speed enough to help out on the
development but this is my first major java-based ldap project so I've
got a double learning curve (and not much time, what else is new?)

I know everyone hates this question, but do you have any sense of the
timelines for even something basic?

I don't need perfect, just basic, few surprises and something with a
clear migration path to what is later in the release. I don't mind
working from the CVS on this since we're building a prototype that
won't see actual production use until at least late Q1 2003.
