I started working on an implementation last year but didn't finish it.
See the DatabaseRegistryService in the CVS. It is based on ObjectBridge.
If I remember, its about 20-30% completed.
I really need this feature also very soon. Do you have any experience with JDBC or ObjectBridge or JDO?
If so, perhaps we could collaborate on it. I would like to use this service in both J1.4 and J2.0
