I believe $jlink is there for compatibility w/ old Jetspeed versions only; $jslink is 
the tool you should be using.

There's a note in TurbineResources.properties about this, granted not the most obvious 
place to look:
# jlink has been replaced by jslink.Template()
# jlink.ActionKey has been replaced by jslink.ActionKey

Would someone kindly explain the difference between using $jlink and
$jslink? Or point me in the right direction to get more information.

I have read multiple tutorials and searched the various archives. The
examples are, at times, contradictory.
