We will definitely support LDAP, however the security model is still in the
planning stages.  As for Stuts, I hear they (the Struts team) are working on
new controller servlets that should "play well" with JSR-168 portals.  I
have yet to plug a struts app into J2 yet, but it is on the top of my list.

Sure, you just need to implement a couple of interfaces to act as adapters
to the persistence layer of your choice.

That is still up in the air, it will probably become clearer when we start
working on conversion tools/adapters for existing J1 applications.

Most definitely, however in a different fashion than what you are used to
current in J1.  There will no longer be skin registries and the
layouts/themes/skins what have you will be much easier to develop and
deploy.
