JSP Portlet Action - setTemplate bug

setTemplate did not work for me from JSPPortletAction(Jetspeed1.4-b3).
Looking at email archives I realize that there was a bug. 
Is the bug fixed. If so , which version of Jetspeed should I download. 
 
What is the latest stable Jetspeed Version. I have done a lot of coding
using Jetspeed1.4-b3. Are the future versions 
backward compatible. Any help would be appreciated.
