Something like this worked fine....

   1. login as "turbine"

   2. using the customizer of turbine,

(by clicking the image "customize" at the top right corner of web
   page )

create a pane named "ROOT" and switch the layout type from "One
column" default to "Menu pane" .

(*** here the button "Add pane" is disabled. )

   3. using the customizer of pane ROOT's own ,
(by clicking the image "customize" beside the hyperlink "ROOT"),
click the button "Add Pane" that is ENABLED,
create a subpane named "CHILD" and enter into its customized
   page,
click the button "Add Portlet",add 3 portlets ,
     select "Three Columns(33/33/33)" layout,
then apply all and return the home page of admin.

4. using the customizer of ROOT's own again,
when i switched the layout from "Three Columns(33/33/33)" to "One
column", a error occured :
the first portlet disappeared !!! there only left 2 portlets on the
web page.

Hi There,

Is there a way to layout portlets in Jetspeed, as is, on a pane as my
example below?
So, I may wish for some of my portlets to display as full length (one
column) and some 50/50.
If so, can it be done via the UI or must one modify this manually?
If not, I presume I could create my own controller.

(P1 = portlet 1, P2 = portlet 2, etc.)
