Thanks Sweaver for your reply. I am not declaring this session bean anymore in my JSP. It is been instantiated in the action class really that happens when the user hits Login. This action class then sets the session bean for the JSP to access

IMOHO, I would avoid storing or creating anything persistent in your view layer (your JSP). I would create a custom SessionValidator (see org.apache.jetspeed.modules.actions.JetspeedSessionValidator) to set this value for you as it will be called prior to executing actions/templates.
