I bit off the main thrust of your problem but I was wondering why you are
not running the latest Eclipse.

About a week ago I had some JMX MBean issues with my tomcat 4.1.29
installation. As I thought that I probably somehow corrupted
the installation, I decided to reinstall it.

For some reason that I don't remember, I installed the version
4.1.27 of tomcat instead, and then the JMX issues were gone.

Now as I read your mail, I'm wondering if my first installation
was really corrupted or if it could be some problem related to
tomcat 4.1.29.

May be you should give tomcat 4.1.27 a try...

cheers
robert
