In my experience, using the latest castor jar causes the problem to show up while using 0.9.3 usually avoids it.

bad news... I download the last version of castor (0.9.5.3) and didn't work again.
This is the complete code of the method wich fails:

public void init() throws InitializationException {
                if (Log.getLogger().isDebugEnabled()) {
                        Log.debug("RegistryService: Late init called");
                }

                while (!getInit()) {
                        //Not yet...
                        try {
                                Thread.sleep(500);
                                if ((verbose > 2) && Log.getLogger().isDebugEnabled())

                                        Log.debug(
                                                "RegistryService: Waiting for init of 
Registry...");
                                }
                        } catch (InterruptedException ie) {
                                Log.error(ie);
                        }
                }

                if (Log.getLogger().isDebugEnabled()) {

                }
        }

it deadlocks on the "while" iteration...
