If you're talking about database connections, maybe you can use the Torque database connection pool built into Jetspeed. Just place your tables in the same database as you've got configured for storing your Jetspeed security data (eg mine is jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/jetspeed, and then use org.apache.torque.Torque.getConnection().
