In some way isn't this stealing from Peter to pay Paul? Using the CVS head will certainly introduce _other_ bugs even if this bug (which I have also encountered numerous times as well) is fixed. Even though I understand that there is continual enhancement and improvenment going on within Jetspeed1, a branch made at the major releases and executing on the patch / merge regimen would certainly create a more usable system in the long run wouldn't it? To date I have been a casual user of Jetspeed (but also previously employed as a portal developer using it) and have always noticed major issues within the system, that usually seem to be 'swapped out' with other, different issues in later releases. In some ways, 1.3 is actually 'better' than 1.5 to me simply because I know what is broken and what not to use.
I am currently interested in using Jetspeed over other competing portal products, having worked with it before, but I am also concerned about the core dev team's interest and priority in creating a stable system for the 'now' (today, not some later release) with bug tracking and fix strategies, and regular patch or minor version releases. I, of course, am also interested in helping with this in any way possible.
