Is there an error with $jslink.RoleName in Velocity templates?

Hi.

I'm customizing top.vm and left.vm and I need to change their content
according to the role of the user. Reading the docs I think the proper way
is using $jslink.RoleName but it outputs as "$jslink.RoleName"... But
$jslink.UserName works OK!

This is a bug, isn't it? Is there a workaround without having to change
Java classes?
