It was doing a direct connection - not using Torque (ie was just a 10 line jsp, to verify I could get there from here)
The reason I think it is a db issue is that that is all I changed - Jetspeed came up fine using the Hypersonic db so I wanted to move it to Oracle (since that is what we will use). It was after I made the changes in torque.properties and project.properties that things stopped work. All I can assume is that it is the db or the configuration for the db...
