Let me see if I can come up with a solution here shortly by hitting
the UserInfoManager component directly...
I created an issue and attached a patch which does what you
suggested, though I'm not sure if this is the right way to get a
UserManager instance:

However, to make it work for me I had to return true at
UserAttributeResolver#isControl(). What does this flag mean? The
interface suggests that it depends on the RuleCriterion but what
should be the determining factor?
