> International Workshop on Collaborative Virtual Research Environments (CVRE06)
> October 21-23, 2006, Changsha, Hunan, China
> To be held in conjunction with the 5th International Conference on Grid and
> Cooperative Computing (GCC 2006)
> 1. Call for papers
> Description
> There are always demands for collaboration in research communities today
> since problems are becoming increasingly challenging. While collaboration
> within a community such as biology and chemistry is necessary, it becomes
> ever more important as problems cross subjects boundaries, creating the need
> for collaboration between different research communities. For example,
> research in social science may involve analysing statistics from large data
> sets, and computer scientists are needed to help to make use of the grid
> technology to access and manipulate the data as well as design interfaces for
> presenting user-friendly results.
>
> With emerging grid and web technologies, such as portals and portlets, it is
> now possible to construct collaborative Virtual Research Environments (VRE)
> based on Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for diverse research communities
> such as in biology, chemistry, physics, social science and other disciplines.
> A typical VRE involves the integration of heterogeneous backend resources,
> such as computers and storage, and all kinds of communications including
> instant messages, audio/video conferencing and online presentations. VREs are
> helping to hide complex backend processes, aid researchers efficiently
> utilising distributed resources, and are providing convenient tools to ensure
> that application scientists can concentrate on their areas of expertise. This
> workshop aims to bring researchers together to discuss and explore issues
> related to VRE tools, services and applications.
> Scope
> The main topics of interest to this workshop include, but are not limited to:
> * Collaborative and other services,
> * Portal frameworks,
> * Portlet technologies including JSR 168/286 and WSRP,
> * Workflow systems,
> * Security,
> * Evaluation of tools, services, usability, reliability, and performance,
> * Lessons from the past research on VRE,
> * Examples of VRE that benefit research communities.
> 2. Paper Submission
> Submission Requirements
> Authors are invited to submit original and unpublished work focusing on VRE
> related techniques. Manuscripts up to 12 pages should be written in English
> with single-spaced pages of text using 10 point size type on 8.5X11 inch
> paper. The format should be referred to the Springer-Verlag > "> Proceedings
> and Other Multiauthor Volumes> "> format
> (<http://www.springer.com/sgw/cda/frontpage/0,11855,5-164-2-72376-0,00.html>).
> Papers in PDF, PS (level 2) or Word format should be submitted to Xiaobo
> Yang ([EMAIL PROTECTED] , [EMAIL PROTECTED] ). It is recommended paper to be
> submitted to both email accounts with > "> CVRE06 - paper submission> "> as
> the title. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors
> to register at GCC 2006 and present the paper at the workshop.
> Publication
> Accepted papers will be included in the GCC 2006 conference proceedings which
> will be published by Springer-Verlag in Lecture Notes in Computer Science
> (LNCS) series.
> Important Dates
> * Full paper submission deadline: 20th May 2006
> * Acceptance/rejection notification: 15th June 2006
