Akshay, Unfortunately, that can be any number of things related to deployment. Please check the jetspeed.log and catalina.log files for other deployment errors. Also, what version of J2 are you using? Are you using the current plugin?
Also, see updates for a velocity based portlet here: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JS2-545 I suspect that there is something out of sync in your J2 build environment. Hard to tell from here :-(.
