Hi all, i'm new to Jetspeed2 as you will tell by my question! - I've installed Jetspeed2 - the 'installer' option comes with Tomcat obviously as this Tomcat instance has taken over my previous Tomcat installation - http://localhost:8080/ uses this instance now - not a question, just found this out!! - anyway i've installed Jetspeed2 and eventually got the 'Simplest Portlet in the world' example on the Apache.org site to work (Thanks Audrey and David for this..)(http://portals.apache.org/jetspeed-2/guides/guide-simple- portlet.html)
My question is regarding Pluto? - i was on 'O'Reilly ON Java.com' site as its a really good site for initial teaching (http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2005/09/14/what-is-a-portlet.html) and the author gives an example of an 'Hello World' portlet but uses PLUTO? - i'm confused about Plutos role in the whole 'portlet' thing! - this is what i've read... Pluto is a reference implementation of a JSR 168 compliant portlet container (not to be confused with a portal). It's an Apache project. Jetspeed 2 is a servlet based implementation of a portal that uses Pluto as its portlet container. It's also an Apache project (http://portals.apache.org/jetspeed-2/) Pluto 1.0.1 is the current stable release of Pluto. This version of pluto is utilized as the portlet container for Jetspeed and other portals. My question is when you install JETSPEED2 - does PLUTO come with it? - Pleeeeeeeeeeeease somebody connect all this! - its driving me mad cuase i don't know if i need to install PLUTO seperately? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
