hi there, yes, i totally agree with you andrew....jetspeed pretty much gets you where u want to be it is an amazing application with a lot of benefits for free.
i really like jetspeed and one day hope that i will become capable enough to be able to contribute whatever i can to this project. The reason i brought this point up , is because i sincerely believe that we can make this much better that it already is. If somebody can guide me on which places i could start if i wanted to change the web interface completely, i would be glad to do it myself. but to do that i need to know , why things were done as they were, for example what the "internal requirements" of jetspeed were for example. I would be honored if some body could clearly guide me on this Regards Team Vit On 4/19/07, Andrew F Hall <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Let's be fair. Jetspeed is an open source infrastructure project. It provides, free of change, 85% of the work. It is up to each implementer to take the infrastructure and develop, modify, and customize to their particular needs. Need it to be faster? Ok - dojo is open source - find the areas that require optimization and modify. Need a different interface? Hire a web designer to develop your particular look and feel and the integrate the changes. Missing functionality? Grab an open source project that provides it and link it in. This open source - not a "Netvibes in a box". My guess is Netvibes has spent a ton of money to get where they are. Jetspeed gets you pretty darn close for nothing.
