For some reason, I didn't have much time to figure this out. The current Maven-2 source build by default tries to setup the initial database. So make sure in your settings.xml, the tomcat server home settings are available. And I believe the default is "derby-embedded", make sure the the jar (as in the profile element for derby in the settings.xml) is available in your <tomcat-server-home>/shared/lib (also specified in settings.xml). Cheers mohan

I don't know what that is but I don't think you need it. The maven2 build is extremely simple: 1.) Download jetspeed-src-2.1.2.zip 2.) Unzip the file, resulting directory should be jetspeed-2.1.2 3.) copy settings.xm.sample from jetspeed-2.1.2/src/settings.xml.sample to ~/.m2/settings.xml 4.) edit ~/.m2/settings.xml (this involves entering the path to tomcat and database information) 5.) mvn install 6.) mvn -P tomcat What you are trying to do with the maven1 builds is generate your own portal. You can also do that with the maven2 builds (much simpler). But if you just want jetspeed.war to deploy to tomcat follow the steps above.
