Hi Ian,

Thanks for notifying!

The demo site at portals.zones.apache.org indeed was down. We've restarted it
just now so its accessible again.

Concerning the HTTP 500 error for the downloads links, this had nothing to do with the Jetspeed website or the links themselves, the Apache server was having some problems last few days causing this.
I just checked the links and all are working fine again too.

Regards,

Ate

OK,
Sorry if I am coming across a bit vague but I cant see what the confusion
is. It was late and I was pretty tired ( as I am also now ) when I sent the
original email but I thought I was pretty explicit about what problem I
had.

1) When I go to the web page (
http://portals.apache.org/jetspeed-2/demo.html ) and click on the demo
portal links I get a connection error.

2) When I try to download the demo installer from this page (
http://portals.apache.org/jetspeed-2/download.html ) I get a HTTP error
500.

I dont have a problem running the jetspeed portal, In fact The problem is
that the jetspeed website has broken links to both the portal demo site and
to the download of the jetspeed portal itself. I thought I would mention
this to the community that is interested in supporting the product as it
prevents new people from trying out the portal or downloading it to start
using it.

Thankyou for trying to help.

Hi Ian

We need much more information:

  fails with an error

During the download? When you tried to run the installer? Was there a
stack trace? Was there an error code?

And it is also a good idea to append the operating system and browser
versions. Often they mean little, but sometimes it is important.

This is a friendly news group - if you supply the info, you will get good
(sometimes excellent) advice.

Regards

Ron

Sorry,
I think you miss understand my issue. I was trying to access the demo from
the apache website. I then tried to download the demo installer and was
given an error as well.

  Is there somethign wrong?

  Hi,
It depends on your system.
I use postgres 8.3 as my database, and tomcat 6.0.18.
I installed the demo as the website page said. It worked, but with an
error, too. It sound like the builder.xml problems about database on line
126. To solve this problem, go to the database.porperties->db.type value,
and change it to postgresql. Because the installer creates a postgresql
folder, not postgres. Then cmd to \Jetspeed-2.2.0\database, and ant. The
tables will be there.(http://edu.codepub.com/2009/1001/15996.php). Hoping
this will fix.
