You may be the victim of someone elses misconfigured server. If so, the session will be lost only when the other application is open at the same time as your application.

The problem is the scope of the JSESSIONID cookie. SAP portals in particular seem to set this to something like com.acme rather than com.acme.sapserver. When this happens, your appserver will see this cookie, but will not recognise it as a legal session ID. The only fix is to get the mis-configured server fixed.

OTOH, it might be something completely different... Good luck.

I have the problem, that from time to time the session was lost in my portal (automatic redirect to login portlet). But the session is not really expired.

I have no idea why this occurs. Is there a bug in jetspeed? Has someone the same problem?
