Ah. That is the bad train of thought. We won't be able to "iron out" stuff
unless people actually start to implement their stuff using this software.
You can't just rely on everyone else to do your work for you.
Perfect example #1:
I wanted to be able to serve images through Turbine. In order to do this, I
had to change some core functionality within Turbine itself. This change
would have never happened (or not as quickly) unless I had the itch. As a
result, it turns out that after adding this functionality for serving
images, that added a whole new layer to Turbine that can be used for many
other purposes.
Perfect example #2:
Jyve. I needed a FAQ-O-Matic system. I have been promoting Turbine for over
a year now, but we had not developed any public sites using it (we have an
internal CI project using it right now). As a result, I did Jyve and also
fixed some bugs in Turbine and added some new features (most recently,
localization services).
So, the longer you wait, the worse off everyone is. You might as well start
now, help us find some bugs and add some new features that are missing.
Otherwise, it is much harder to progress to a final solution that is good
for everyone. Remember, Turbine is simply the MFC of servlet development. If
we don't collect re-usable code somewhere, we will continue to develop this
stuff over and over again which is just plain stupid.
Please, jump right in. Turbine works right now and is completely usable.
