Portlet is a popular term:
>From http://www.beasys.com/products/weblogic/personalization/datasheet.html:
BEA WebLogic Personalization Server provides a framework that supports
portlets - visual components that present the user interface for a
particular function or application. For instance, a Web page (like
Amazon.com) may contain a product search, a promotional offer, and a list of
individualized recommendations. These three features are interfaces to
specific portlets - in this case, to a search application, a promotional
application, and a product recommendation application, respectively. You can
use BEA-provided portlets, along with portlets you create or customize, to
quickly assemble personalized, dynamic, Web-based interfaces that can be
completely customized using standard Web-authoring tools.

BTW. Does anyone have $35,000 (this thing cost 35k per server!) to
waste to find out if they stole Jetspeed? I don't see the advertising
clause anywhere. They could have done it internally though.
