Sandy. I took a look at everything last night.... There are some
things that still concern me:
- Still Servlet based.
This needs to move over to a Portlet.
- Doesn't use ECS or XSP but instead hard codes HTML in places...
If this is going to be part of Jetspeed then the hard coded stuff has to
go. As some may remember my "Messaging" Servlet did this and the goal
was to slowly remove this code over time but it became too hard so I
just decided to scrap the whole thing.
- Doesn't use the Turbine connection pool or OPaL code.
This won't play well with the rest of Jetspeed. There will also be a
performance hit here since there is no connection pool.
Anyway. Until these issues are taken care of I would rather not have
these become a standard part of Jetspeed. Most of the development in an
application comes from the long term development and maintenance so if
we can come up with a cleaner code base to begin with we can save
ourselves a lot of time.
