Yes this is true and you are correct. In our case, the first page of our
application was what we wanted to have in the portal. Since the application
is already completed it makes sense to use the first page from the application
directly. So in our case, a turbine screen rendered into a portlet.
In some cases I see creating a portlet that is just a small subset of the
required interface to launch the application. In these cases we've created
porlets straight out that just 'link' to the application.
