First off sorry for the delay in replying. Yesterday was spent on a cross country (US)
flight. No email checks :(. Long story...

I got the idea to add calendar functionality to Jetspeed. While researching
calendaring, I found the iCalendar Internet RFC. It defines a set of data objects that
can be used for exchange of calendaring information. So users of calendar clients such
as outlook can exchange their information with other calendar clients (whether it be
outlook or not). As long as the other client understands the standard information can
be shared.

This will be used two ways.
1. As a backend for a web based calendar.
2. Facilitate sharing of calendar information between calendar clients such as Outlook
and Organizer.

AFAIK, This is the second open source implementation of the iCalendar standard and the
only one in the Java Language. The other implementation is libical which is written in
C (or C++). I havent really checked it out though. It is under the MPL.

Stay tuned for details on installing and using iCalendar. We are (as I mentioned in a
previous mail) in the process of separating jetspeed and icalendar. A release should
follow shortly after.

Hope this helps
